No More Lamar Smith
He is my Congressman. He represents Texas’s 21st Congressional District and is the man who created SOPA. He also sponsored a bill last year called “Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers” (PCIP) which seeks to limit internet freedom under the guise of “protecting children” as usual. We’ve heard this story before.
Anyway, Lamar Smith’s district boundary represents textbook gerrymandering, and it looks like he’s opposed by someone who has yet to really show herself publicly, a woman named Elaine Henderson. I will be voting for her based on what little information I’ve found so far that already has shown me that she is a better choice than the incumbent.
BUT incumbents in Texas usually win. Especially in my area. These elections are not usually run by big spenders, so we rarely see ads or hear anything from our representatives. It’s basically assumed that you’ll be voting for the name you recognize.
I WANT TO CHANGE THAT. Lamar Smith is dangerous. He has shown time and again with his various bills that he wants to destroy the internet for his pretend war on EVIL.
So start telling people about Elaine Henderson, even if you don’t live in Texas. Her name needs to be more popular than Lamar Smith’s name and she’ll basically win.
